Update on Patch 1.04 and Double XP Weekend
News | by Vitti | September 30, 2011
Hey everyone,
We wanted to thank all of you for your patience while we iron out the remaining kinks in the Resistance 3 Multiplayer. Many of you have been playing with no issues, but there are also some of you experiencing framerate hitches and other minor bugs. We wanted you to know that we are continuing to work through these issues as quickly as we can.
Tomorrow we anticipate Sony rolling out patch 1.04 (in NA and EU). It includes minor performance optimizations, updates to the Move/Sharpshooter aiming when aiming down the sights, as well as some matchmaking balance tweaks.
Following 1.04 will be a patch that should clean up the rest of the loose ends. There are some smaller framerate issues we are aware of and these will be addressed in patch 1.05, along with some split screen optimization. This patch (1.05) has not gone to Sony approval yet, but should soon. We are continuing to strive for a smooth, positive experience for everyone.
In the meantime, as a THANK YOU to those playing and hanging with us, we are going to offer DOUBLE XP THIS WEEKEND! Everything will be doubled starting now! You will simply have to close out of the game and go back in to get the updated configs.
Thank you and happy leveling!

Badges? You do need some Stinkin’ Badges
Uncategorized | by jstevenson | September 22, 2011
Hopefully you got the Blazing Saddles reference in the title – or else it was completely random. Either way, badges are a pretty significant factor of this post. Why? Because we have teamed up with Machinima and RespawnArmy.com to create unique Resistance 3 unlockable badges. That’s right! Simply sign up for an account with the RespawnArmy.com Facebook app and you’ll be on your way to garnering unique badges specially designed for R3. The first eight are up now – and if you want to be entered in for a chance to win some pretty swag swag – I’d get off your tush and start killin’ some Chimera.
If you want to know more information about the badge program or Resistance 3 in general, head on over to http://www.Machinimalive.com tomorrow and watch their live stream of Resistance 3 gameplay, with special guests Creative Director Marcus Smith and Lead MP Designer Cameron Christian. It goes on tomorrow from 1 P. M. till 4 P.M. Pacific– so don’t miss it. For real.
See, I told you badges were important. And you really should watch Blazing Saddles. But not right now. You have badges to get.

Resistance 3 Patch 1.02 notes
News | by jstevenson | September 8, 2011
Hey folks,
Patch 1.02 for Resistance 3 is now available worldwide. We apologize for having two large patches this close to launch, but as you know, we’ve had a lot of issues to address from the Public Beta, and this has created the need for large patches. If you just want to play SP, you can ignore the patches (though there are some small fixes to the campaign) – but to go online, you will need to download them.
We wanted to detail some of the fixes in 1.02 for you. There are A LOT of fixes in this patch, some of which some players may not notice and are not worth detailing, but here are the big ones:
-Players should no longer get into “dead” games that don’t operate correctly
-Improvement in framerate/lag
-Matchmaking fixes
-Fewer players floating / clipping through environment
-Fix for freezing/crashing issues if you join a game as it is ending
-Can no longer leave party while in a co-op game (was causing a crash)
-Party fixes dealing with multiple invites, co-op
-Some SFX in St. Louis have been cleaned up
-Broadway map now loads games correctly
-Fixed issues when late-joining a campaign co-op game
-Multiple fixed issues on Chapter 13 in co-op
-Female voice over will now play for female skins in MP
-Player using Hazmat ability will no longer appear to catch fire or freeze
-Other various lobby, menu, co-op and multiplayer fixesWe are still working hard here to reduce lag / framerate issues that you see in the game. We have another patch already in the works to continue addressing new issues we’ve seen since launch, though many of these issues may be improved by the fixes in patch 1.02. Those issues include:
-Lag/Server sync issues
-Framerate drops and hitches
-Games where players cannot capture the flag/destroy a Node/etc.We know this patch should resolve many issues, but please know we are continuing to monitor your feedback via Twitter, Facebook, the Insomniac Games Forums andMyResistance.net as we develop patch 1.03. We’ve already gotten a lot of good data from the first couple of days, and are continuing to develop more fixes to give you a world-class online experience. If you spot other issues, please report them as quickly and in as detailed a way as possible.
Thanks for your support of Resistance 3,

R3 Beta Patch 2.05 Notes
News | by jstevenson | August 30, 2011
Hey folks,
Very shortly from the time of this writing (5:45 pm, PST on 8/30/11) – Patch 2.05 will rollout to the Resistance 3 Beta servers. This may be our last patch to the beta, as all of our efforts are focused on ensuring that our final game runs as well as it can next week. Keep in mind that our beta patches have been meant to address critical issues, MANY more polish, optimizations, bug fixes and tweaks have gone into our Day 1 patch (including things like death cam fixes, additional lag fixes, menu bugs, etc).
So what does Patch 2.05 do?
Patch 2.05 notes:
-General stability fixes
-Various freeze bugs fixed
-Some issues in the game that cause lag/framerate issues addressedWe know we still have a few other outstanding issues left to deal with for the final game, like lag caused by certain weapons/items. We’re working to ensure those are fixed for the final game. We also know parties are still having issues staying together, and we are working to address those issues as well.
As we mentioned before, the release version of R3 should be even better than this final beta experience, with additional polish, and fixes. We know it hasn’t been the smoothest beta period, but we appreciate all of your efforts in helping us test our new servers and multiplayer. As a token of our gratitude, all players who play between today and September 4th will receive special bonuses when the final game launches – you can find details about that here. We also revealed that on Day 1 we will have a special Classic Hardcore ranked matchmaking playlist for those of you who like your Resistance 3 Ability/Berserk free.
Thanks again for all of your help testing the beta, we hope you enjoy playing the R3 Beta and are looking forward to the full game’s release (along with the 10 additional maps in the retail game) next week.

Friday R3 Beta Update, Patch 2.03
News | by Vitti | August 19, 2011
Hey everyone,
Hope you have an awesome weekend planned. We would like to think part of your plans involve a little Resistance 3 Beta mayhem. Just wanted to update you all as to where we stand.
Patch 2.03 should be going live in the next few days. We will let everyone know when it officially hits, but it has been passed on to Sony. Here is what is included in this patch:
- Wipe for everyone’s stats/progression (as we mentioned, this is to help us ensure there are no issues with stats and progression moving forward)
- Tweaks to the sprint/camera movement
- Tweaks that may potentially help with lag and other issuesWe have made lots of progress on the server front too. Thanks for hanging in there despite timeouts and other issues, but these tests are necessary to ensure the final game runs smooth. We do not have any tests planned for the weekend, so things should run smoothly for you.
We are getting close now. There may be at least one more patch prior to launch. Please keep in mind that some smaller issues we found in the Beta have already been fixed in our Day 1 patch, but may not show up in the Beta.
As always, continue to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates on the Beta and all things Insomniac.

Resistance 3 Beta Update, Patch 2.02 and beyond
News | by Vitti | August 15, 2011
Hey folks,
While JS is over in Germany enjoying Gamescom (Read: Beer) I wanted to update everyone on the Beta. First up, patch 2.02 should be available within the next day.
Patch 2.02 Changelog
- Potential fix for “Game has already ended”
- Fix for Host Migration after each game
- Potential fix for Invisible players
- Some other minor tweaksWe’ve made some solid progress on fixing the Invisible Player glitch, but we still need more info to make sure it’s been fully fixed. Remember we’re rewarding detailed reproduction instructions for this specific glitch. Please be specific with your details and post in this thread.
There will be a new forum thread for any new issues that may arise from 2.02. Please let us know if things aren’t working correctly or if you are having additional issues. You guys have been great helping us solidify this Beta.
We hope to quickly follow 2.02 with 2.03 later this week. 2.03′s main function is to reset stats and progression for everyone. Now that we’ve stabilized our stats servers, this will help us identify any issues with these changes. Keep in mind that beta stats will not carryover to retail, so just think of this as a chance to level up to the cap all over again! Stay tuned for more details on this patch soon.
We will also continue to tweak and update the server for optimal performance and user experience. If there are any updates on that front you will hear them from us first.
Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter for more updates and info regarding future patches. We are trying to answer every comment and tweet so please bear with us!

R3 Thursday Beta Update: Current issues and upcoming 2.02 update
News | by jstevenson | August 11, 2011
Hey folks,
As you know, yesterday we released update 2.01 for the Resistance 3 beta. While this has definitely improved matchmaking (as players are no longer being matched into empty games that no one ever joins), we still have some issues that are giving you an unacceptable experience. We know you’re experiencing server timeouts at times when trying to matchmake or create private games, and that game stability itself can be an issue (though this should be somewhat improved today vs. yesterday).
We continue to tweak our server settings in order to provide the best balance of ease of getting in a game, with games actually staying stable. Right now, games are running better, but it also seems that sometimes we are getting overloaded and you can’t get into games. Even then, we are having some issues. All of these items are related to heavy loads on the servers, and we’re actively working to update our settings and configs to compensate for this. We’ve made some good progress on our side, and even today have seen improvements. We hope to continue this trajectory tomorrow.
One thing we want to point out for fans outside of North America – right now all of Resistance 3’s servers are in the Eastern United States. While the final game will have servers deployed worldwide, our test servers are there, so this may compound some issues for you if you are farther geographically from that location.
Meanwhile, we’re working on a 2.02 patch that we’re hoping to have deployed sometime early next week. The 2.02 update should fix the “Game has already ended” issue you are getting when loading in, as well as fix the party leader/host changing between rounds right now. We’re trying to add other fixes and are testing this patch now. While we won’t get it deployed over the weekend, we are still working hard on getting the server-side updated and more stable for you in the meantime.
There are of course other issues as well, these are things we know about and are fixing – many related to the server loads:
-Lag in games, especially with deployed-items/abilities/berserks
-Game Has Already Ended During the match
-Parties being disbanded and other lag in the lobby when doing things like switching teams
-Server Timeout issues
-The invisible Man glitch
-Crash bugs – there are sill a few bugs that will crash/freeze your system. Will address with a patch.
-Stat issues (keep in mind right now we are working to move stats to their permanent home, so you may see weirdness. We apologize in advance if you lose any progression)Many of you have expressed concern that the game is not ready for launch in early September. I want to assure you that everyone here at Insomniac and Sony are doing everything possible to ensure that the launch day experience is great. We hope to have the beta stable and completely playable well-before then, and we’re going to hopefully “re-launch” the beta when that’s ready. We thank you for your patience, understanding, and willingness to help us test Resistance 3.
We’ll keep you updated in the meantime – though for the most frequent updates, be sure to follow us on Twitter, or check our Facebook Wall.
